Academic Career
As Diplomate in National Board [DNB] registrar of Cardiothoracic surgery [6 years integrated course] at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore, one of the premier institute in India, was exposed to nearly 2,500 cases [Adult cardiac / vascular / Thoracic / Paediatric] during residency period and did nearly 220 surgeries under supervision during residency period. This may be the one of the largest surgical exposures in India as for residency period.
During national workshops at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore, got a great opportunity to work with world pioneers in adult Cardiothoracic & vascular surgeries, which was one of the well-attended and renowned conferences in India.

Success Stories
Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery (MICS)
- 20th April 2022: Achieved “INDIA BOOK OF RECORDS 2022” for successful display of 100 MICS cases results
- Successfully started MICS - Minimal Access Cardiac surgery program, Total Arterial Revascularization with Skeletonized LIMA-RIMA-Y program and Mitral valve repair programs @ Vijayawada since September 2017.
- Successfully completed nearly 85 cases of full spectrum of Cardiac surgeries in MICS, as a state of surgical art.
- A 5 case series of MICS Subpulmonic VSD closure, pulmonary valve repair / replacement through a 5cm small Left anterior minithoracotomy by Dr Varun, will be the 1st case report in Indian literature.
- Successfully performed MICS MITRAL valve replacement with Tricuspid valve repair in a patient with 110 kg weight and complex Mitral valve bileaflet repairs, youngest of 3yr old baby.
- Regularly performing multivessel MICS CABG even in elderly patients (>70yrs) and using bilateral Mammary arteries and radial arteries as a part of Total arterial revascularization in younger patients with good target
- Successfully performed MICS CABG x 3 grafts with Skeletonized LIMA-RIMA-Y, which was the 1st case in both the Telugu states and a total of 3 cases till now
- Successfully performed MICS CABG x 4 grafts with LIMA, Left Radial and 2 more vein grafts for a 38 yrs old young obese (107kgs) patient.
- Successfully performed MICS AVR through Axillary approach
- Total endoscopic Mitral & Aortic valve replacements & ASD closures – 1st time in Andhra Pradesh
- Sustained Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH) program @ Dr VCS - 1st time in Andhra Pradesh
